Africa, Asia, and Europe: where most of the world’s history derived from. But what continent empowered another continent the most? Africa influenced Asia prior to the 1500’s the most. Africa has an exemplary placement on the globe, which allowed them to succeed in a successful exchangement. Prior to the 1500’s, Africa’s civilizations were thriving, such as Kush, Axum, Mali, and Great Zimbabwe because of their trading routes. Since Africa had a source of gold, many countries were interested voyagers to visit. On the other hand, in Asia they were more concentrated in their spice trading system. Also, Asia was spreading Islam to other parts of Asia because religion took a huge roll on their trading. Africa impacted Asia because of Africa’s beneficial East Coast trade routes since they were ideal for trade around the globe. Continents were interested in Africa’s trade because Africa had resources that were scarce in their area: “...they had access to gold from the interior and were easy to reach by sea from Asia because of favorable ocean currents and winds” (“Johannesburg Article”). This means that African trade routes to Asia were the most convenient because of their beneficial placement, which allowed them to have easy access to any country. Africa influenced Asia to start their own trading routes because Asia saw how Africa was greatly benefiting from their systems. These trading routes also brought up success with other countries: “Gradually, a trade network linked the savanna to forest lands in the South and then funneled goods across the Sahara to civilizations along the Mediterranean and in Southwest Asia” (Ellis and Esler 346).
