Conquering allowed Alexander, the Great to transform the Afro-Eurasian world. Within the Afro-Eurasian world trading was an important aspect that allowed many countries and different type of people to become connected. As the money-economy is spreading throughout the Mediterranean it allows for equal pay when people decide to buy or sell their goods. The start of unifying the Mediterranean world starts with having all the nations agree on using the same system. In this case, the same system is a money-based economy that will slowly abolish trading. It allows historians to easily trace back in history when the Afro-Eurasian world started to change and become more involved with one another. The first lasting effect that caused ripples throughout the Mediterranean world and eastward to China starts with power. “The massive transfers of wealth and power resulting from his [Alexander's] conquests transformed the Mediterranean into a more unified world of economic and cultural exchange.”4 As a unified world is starting to appear communication through his conquests was developing. Communication that is allowing ideas, inventions, and culture to be shared. Inventions being improved upon that will eventually lead to the idea of expanding this unified world further. Perhaps trying to explore the lands Eastwards and China one day. Then through China perhaps explore Japan and learn about new cultures. Without his conquests starting to become unified the ideas may have stagnated within each conquest. If ideas stagnated, then new trade routes to the east would have never opened.5 If the east remains unexplored then the west and east would have remained divided from one another.
