Andrew Johnson On December 29th of 1808 Andrew Johnson, a future, Husband, tailor, Mayor, Governor senate and President of the United states was born, in the City of Raleigh, North Carolina. Some people supported and agreed with his views and many others didn’t but weather how they felt about it nobody can deny the impact that he had on this nation. Johnson was a self educated man and never attended a University. Andrew’s father died while he was only 3 years old which caused the family to live in poverty. His mother had to step up and provide the needs since her husband passed away. However later on she remarried a man who took Andrew and his brother under his wing in his tailoring business. As shown Andrew Johnson had many personal issues and things that he disliked about the Reconstruction plan and the rights that were being given to Blacks. His opinions are mainly what made him a limited leader and not very likable by the standards of most of the American people. The mindset and the way that people saw Johnson started to change in a bad way, once they saw how he truly felt. His thoughts on civil rights and political rights contradicted those of Lincoln’s which were embraced by many across the nation. Rules and regulations that Abraham Lincoln had wanted and designed were edited for the worse. The constant controversy between him and other political positions is mainly because of this. Most of Johnson’s decisions were very vague and lots of people did not agree with them. Even though Johnson’s decision making skill weren’t quite as sharp as they should have, he did express sympathy for the poor and despised the acts of changing the nation into a rich man’s country. Johnson’s strong feelings against wealthy individuals taking complete control; most likely comes from his experience of having a hard young life, and truly understanding how it is to be without. For four years Andrew Johnson was the leader of this country and was able to run it the way that he desired. Still to this day he has a heavy influence on this nation because of the way he critiqued things while he was in office. A lot of people disagreed with his plans and opinions which is part of the reason why he was the first President to be impeached. For unknown reasons he was allowed to finish his presidential term. After finishing his term Johnson did not run for president again. Instead Johnson moved back to Tennessee and became senate for the second time in 1874. A year later on July of 1875 Johnson died of a stroke and was buried right outside of his hometown of Greeneville
