Benjamin Franklin was one of the greatest American citizens of all time. Franklin was an author, printer, political theorist, politician, freemason, postmaster, scientist, inventor, civic activist, statesman, and diplomat. Franklin was born on 1705 and died on 1790. Franklin was not born in a rich Family, but in a poor family. He went on to start a successful printing business in Philadelphia and grew wealthy. He discovered electricity in 1746. Now in the developed modern world we use electricity as part of living life. Franklin’s early life, his discovery of electricity, inventions changed the world and the way people think.

He proved it by tying a key at the end of the string on a kite. When a lightning storm came he ran out of his house and flew the kite up to the sky. That when lightning shocked the kite. Franklin then touched the key then got shocked. Franklin had his theory for this, that opposite charges repel each other. Franklin was the only person to sign 3 documents that improved the United States: Declaration on peace, Peace Treaty with Britain and the constitution. Also Franklin published “Poor Richard’s Almanack,” from 1733 to 1758. The Almanack became know for it’s funny sayings, some sayings are still used today. When the lightning rod was invented in 1749, a lot of people from all over the world use started using it. It reduced the risk of getting shocked by lightning.
