January 17, 1706, a great leader was born. Benjamin Franklin made a huge impact on the world that we know today. He worked at an early age and he was adventurous. He loved to read books and the newspaper. Benjamin Franklin, a talented man, had a very interesting early life, he was a great inventor, and he took part of the government. Benjamin Franklin had an interesting early life. He was born on January 17, 1706. His father’s name was Josiah Franklin and his mother’s name was Abiah Folger. Benjamin also has some very famous sayings. His most famous saying is, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”. Another one of his famous quotes was, “A penny saved is a penny earned”. He was the one of the main people that helped Philadelphia grow into being one of the most populated and important places in the Colonies. In 1737, he became the Colonial Postmaster General and in 1754, he was elected delegate to the Albany Congress. Benjamin was also a Colonial Agent. He was the colonial agent for Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Georgia, and New Jersey. He also helped make peace with other countries. He traveled to France as an ambassador to help make peace with them to help win the American Revolution. Franklin also traveled to Great Britain to sign a peace treaty with them. Traveling to Europe to make peace was a big part in helping the Colonies become the United States of America. Franklin had a big part in helping the Colonies win the Revolutionary War. He helped organize some of the groups that helped the Colonies. He organized the Second Continental Congress. This group of delegates would meet in Philadelphia during the Revolution and make plans for the thirteen colonies on what they should do during the Revolutionary War. He also helped organize the Continental Army. This army was led by George Washington. Franklin helped write and sign the Declaration of Independence and helped sign the Treaty of Alliance with France.
