Dickens' Impact

No other author was more popular than Charles Dickens in 19th century England. Charles Dickens was born on February 7, 1812 in Portsmouth to John and Elizabeth Dickens. In his lifetime he wrote various famous novels such as, A Christmas Carol, A Tale of Two Cities, Great Expectations, David Copperfield, and Oliver Twist. Although he died in 1870, the impact of his works are still carried out to society today. The writing of Charles Dickens, who was influenced by his personal experience and by the Victorian literary period, has contributed to the modern world.

Dickens' writing was effected by his personal experiences from childhood to adulthood. In his early years, life was hard for him being the second of eight children.
