How Did Christopher Columbus Voyage

I believe that Christopher Columbus and his men had mixed thoughts during their voyage and when they first arrived in the Bahamas. Before they reached the Bahamas, there was a lot of suspicion about where the land was. Different crews on the voyage saw many signs of upcoming land such as a cane and a log. This gave them hope , encouragement, and excitement. The search for land was so important to them that whoever discovered it first would receive a silken jacket from the Admiral. In addition to the jacket, the person who located it first received a grant of ten thousand maravedis. In my opinion, this raised the excitement level and urge to find the land. When they finally reached the land, Columbus recognized that the people who inhabited the land were very friendly to them. He also described them as being poor. I think Columbus and his men assumed this because most of the people were naked when they first saw them. Although they were naked, some covered their bodies in black , white, red, and other paints. The way that Columbus described their appearance showed that he was very fascinated by the way they look. Despite being interested in the their image, Columbus also portrayed them as being ignorant. During trade, they exchanged their goods for whatever Columbus decided to give them. The natives were very naive because they thought Columbus was giving a fair trade.
