The Renaissance and Age of Exploration In 1453 Europe had to take risks to get out of the “Dark Ages” and into the Golden Age (Renaissance). In the “Dark Ages” the majority of people were living in hard and poor times. Trying to get into the Golden Age started the Age of Exploration, which was a series of voyages and expeditions the Europeans made to get into the global trade and wealth of the east coast. In document one of the DBQ it says, “With trade routes to the east in hand of the Ottomans, Europeans needed to find new trade routes.” This was one cause of the Europeans wanting to explore new lands.
The Age of Exploration is what causes Americans to now celebrate Columbus Day. The Age of Exploration inspired Christopher Columbus to sail west to find the Northwest Passage and wealth. Although it is believed that Columbus was not the first to make it to the New World his discovery caused massive change. The Age of Exploration sparked by the desire of more successful trade routes and goods set off the momentous, Colombian Exchange which led to the spread of disease and swop of animals as well as crops. The Age of Exploration was initiated by the Europeans because of their desire for luxury goods from Asia and a faster way of getting them.
Nicolas Enriquez’s piece titled The Virgin of Guadalupe with the Four Apparitions depicts the Virgin mother Mary as she revealed herself to a newly transformed Christian Native named Juan Diego. The Exploration Age occurred from the 15th century to the 17th century, and resulted in the expansion of many countries in Europe to places never reached before.

William Shakespeare wrote and acted in his plays during the Renaissance, which was a time from the 1300s until the 1600s when ideas of society changed. During the Renaissance, a new concept started to form that changed society which was humanism.
