Imagine you're in the year 1398, you are painting a picture but it looks all the same as the other ones. You look over at your friends and something makes them stand out. The strokes look different and there is a whole other perspective of the world we thought we knew. During the years 1300-1650 was when the Renaissance took place. The Renaissance was a period of big change when art and literature became popular and many advances were made. The Renaissance period started in Italy but in 300 years it spread to western and Eastern Europe. Many well known artists were involved in the development of this time period including Leonardo da Vinci, Michael Angelo, and many more talented people. The Renaissance time period improved and added many new styles of art for others to use. “The clearest evidence of the break with medieval culture comes from the visual arts. the new artistic styles echo the broader movement and interests of the new age” (Document A). This shows that the Renaissance time period was when art was starting to become more popular and influential towards other people. As a result, many other people in the years past the Renaissance time have tried to emulate those paintings and artwork. Also, the Renaissance time period showed more textures and emotions in the artwork.“ Why is the Last Supper Composition remarkable? First because the disciplines are all displaying very human identifiable emotions” (Document B). This quote proves that artwork back in the Renaissance time period was intact with emotions and did not show much in paintings. When The Last Supper painting by Leonardo da Vinci was made, it was remarkable for people to think that paintings could show emotions. To sum up, the progress and improvement of art during the Renaissance helped people's understanding and appreciation of humans drastically change. If these portraits and paintings haven't been made, humans would never know any other new styles of art than the ones they already
