This portrait is supposedly a commemorative portrait in commemoration of Battista Sforza the Duke’s second wife ,it was a very privileged thing to have an image of yourself and this portrays the Montefeltro wealth as the ‘Montefeltro family in Urbino was Piero's most generous patron towards the mid 15th century’ . Further the Duke was not an average Duke but also a professional military leader therefore it is likely he was extremely wealthy enabling this portrait to be created.
Sheridan Baker’s essay about writing a thesis simplifies what some deem a difficult task. I learned most theses are too vague. We do not reduce the topic enough. That is why choosing a central idea can take up more time than needed, but Baker explains ways to get the idea quickly and organize it efficiently. I recently learned the importance of narrowing down the topic before researching it.
From 1450 to 1750, global networks began to expand. Though not every part of the world was involved in these expanding global networks, countries like China were. This was the time period of the Ming and the Qing Dynasties. There were changes and continuities with China’s participation in the global networks around this time period. During the time period between 1450 and 1750, China limited outside influence and their participation in the Silk Road Trading remained constant in global network trading, while there were significant changes in China’s participation in global networks such as Chinese converts to the Christian religion and China’s demand for an alternative medium of exchange.
Art reached new heights during the Renaissance. Many new techniques and styles emerged such as perspective, chiaroscuro, and sfumato. Before the Renaissance, artists focused primarily on religious scenes and Gothic art. During the Renaissance, artists began to focus more on realism and human qualities. Renaissance artists also began to lean towards Roman and Greek styles/ideas for inspiration.
World History 1600-1650 The world has been in a huge number of wars. Wars could be deadly. Between the years of 1600-1650 , there were a lot of wars, religious conflicts and science developments. One of the most famous wars in this time was the war which started in 1600 and lasted around 30 years and it´s called ¨The Thirty Years War¨. The thirty years war was a series of brutal , bloody , and a very deadly wars that took place mostly in Central Europe and it is seen as one of longest and most destructive conflicts in European history.
In order to trace some of the most noticeable developments of the transitional period, let us turn to an excellent example put forward by Eduard Wagner within his seminal Medieval Costume, Armour and Weapons. Here, Wagner compares how two master painters - the Master of Vyšší Brod, from about the middle of the century (c.1350), and the Master of Třeboň (c.1380), about thirty years later - depicted knights in their paintings of the same scene, namely the Resurrection. Thus we can clearly see the developments across three highly innovative decades. People use the phrase “Middle Ages” to talk about Europe’s time between thefallofRome in 476 CE and the beginning of the renaissance in the 14th century. European artist and writers began to look back and celebrate the art and culture of Ancient Greece and Rome. At a point in time, after fall in Rome, people started to call this this “dark age”. This was because during this period no scientific accomplishments were made. Also, No great art work were produced, nor were any great leaders recognized at this time.
I’ve always loved art. In grade school I would always tell everyone that art was my favorite subject when they asked. In middle school all of my electives were art oriented and I found myself observing artwork in a different way. The city has a population of 370,000, which expands to over 1.5 million in the metropolitan area. Being a historic town, founded in 54 BC, Florence has certainly stuck to its roots and still keeps up with the traditions. While Florence is most famous for the food, arts, and of course, wines, that’s not all there is to the city.
The architecture of the Ottoman Empire drew inspiration from the Arab world and Europe. The Orthodox catholic structures in the Byzantine Empire were very similar to the Ottoman structures. The Ottomans were very into their architecture.
Gothic and gothic revival styles of architecture began as revolutionary movements from their respective predecessors. Gothic is a style of architecture which gained popularity for its tall structure with pointed arches which points into the sky above. It emerged somewhere between 12th and 16th century, as an after effect or better says an evolution of the Romanesque style (Figure.01). Gothic revival style emerged as an antidote for the fever of machine age, which later became the most influential style during the 19th century.

The three types of Ancient Greek art were a progression of styles than began in approximately 700 BCE under the Archaic style. The Archaic style was very primitive and can be likened to Ancient Egyptian art and sculpture. The Archaic style would display the human body in very rigid and unnatural forms. Archaic sculptures were also well known for the “Archaic Smile”. Historians believe that the Greeks displayed their human sculptures with a smile to signify that they were representing someone who was “alive”.
Architecture Description Byzantine architecture was evolved from Early Christian architecture. For example, Early Christian style architecture had basilicas (churches) with three or five isles, but Byzantine style architecture rarely used three to five isles. Byzantines used domes and vaults frequently, unlike the Early Christian style architecture who rarely used domes. To keep the highest domes upright, the Byzantines used pendentive. Pendentive supports the dome using four triangle legs sitting on a square base.
