She used her poetry to reach the african american community and it gave them a sense of awareness. Her work was prideful and she, in turn, gave that pride back to her people to give a call to action. She first wrote two books in 1968 that became well known nation wide, and since no one wanted to publish her outspoken, “militant” poetry… she did it herself. She formed her own company and made her own money off of her books, she was very smart. There were mainly two things that influenced her writings, the revolution and her family.
Emily was a poet. She wrote and published 1800 poems. Her job was really just being an author and a poet. She wrote so many things that everyone started to love her poems. She became well known or famous.
Dickinson was a very timid person that didn’t socialize well with others. Instead, she would hide away in her room and write poetry. She was believed to have suffer from severe social anxiety and many other emotional issues. A lot of her poetry was founded by her sister when she died. After her death, she became very well known in American Literature.
Dickinson wrote an abundance of poetry with more than one thousand seven hundred poems. She chose not to publish, but at least ten of her poems were published in her lifetime without her permission (Loving 196). Dickinson also had a strong literary voice, which contributed to her high position in American literature (“Emily Dickinson.” Bio). She used imagery in many poems, and she frequently reinforces that the most important moments in life go by within the blink of an eye (Loving 196).
She wasn’t afraid to be different or disliked, she would rather be herself than liked. She used her poems and life to express her thoughts, while inspiring other writers and women to step out of their wifely duties and see that there could be

Emily Dickinson was a very influential poet, because she was one of the first female poets, she aided in women’s movements, and she impacted on American literature. Emily was born and raised in Amherst, Massachusetts on December 10, 1830. She mostly stayed at home and rarely went out to explore the world.

Dickinson and Whitman both wrote about nature, beauty, society, death, truth, imagination and God. People believe that Emily’s Style was the best alternative because it provided an avenue for men and women being able to be writers of poetry in their own style. This was what changed society’s outlook as one knew it then. Whitman and Dickinson both wanted to be approved of even if they didn’t follow society’s guidelines. THE REASON FOR THE POEMS Emily Dickinson’s reason for her poems were that she believed that women should be able to write poetry and well as men.
Poetry has been a very influential tool for sharing and expressing ideas or thoughts throughout many years and periods through history. Lots of poets are recognized for their brilliant pieces in literature, but I want to talk about two very important writers who wrote many works that are still analyzed by lots of people around the world. Emily Dickinson and Walt Whitman were both famous poets who left a grand footprint in American literature. While both were part of the same period in time, in the 1800s to be somehow exact, and both had the same nationality, these poets were definitely different in writing style and ideology.
Her poetry is unique is because of its brief nature and rigid scheme, the exact opposite of Walt Whitman, another popular poet in the time period. One of the reasons that Dickinson is so famous

Perhaps the most mysterious aspect of Emily Dickinson is the message which her poems convey. Dickinson is an artist with words: she has the capability to display her philosophy using metaphors and allusions throughout her poems. Despite never marrying, Dickinson held strong views about marriage. She saw marriage as a barrier, that marriage often ended parts of womanhood for the bride. Never the less, it is best to analyze Dickinson’s poem about marriage and love through a feminist perspective to best understand her philosophy about marriage.
Obviously, her poems spoke her truth and were very detailed in the sense that she wrote from the heart. She chose to write without a filter in front of her and wrote what she really believed was right. Another heavy influence in her work was the concept of living life to the fullest. In her poems, it was obvious that she did not intend on wasting any time and rather wanted to make the most of her opportunities. She writes, “I keep on dying, because I love to live,” in her poem “The Lesson.”
Does failure help one to value success or is it better to just focus on the successful times? Emily Dickinson wrote the poem “Success is counted sweet” describing a situation where an army member was on the ground dying. He was defeated so he could understand how valuable success is. The band Queen is the artist of their song “We Are The Champions” describing how there were hard times never defeat. They also describe how sweet their success really is.
