One of Italy’s greatest film makers is Ermanno Olmi. Through out the years, there have been many great film that have come from Italy, and many amazing film makers to go along with them. These directors include not only Olmi, but Scola, Taviani, and Benigni. These men are not just directors, but they are visionary’s who helped but Italian cinema on the map. Olmi, like many directors, liked to focus on neorealism. Although he career was long, he did not make many films. The he did make however, are amazing, and stem from his humble beginnings. Born on July 24th 1931, in Italy, Olmi was brought up from humble beginnings. His parents were just factory workers while he was growing up. When the second world war started, Olmi's father was sent to fight. The was resulted in his fathers death.
