The election of 1932 won by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt gave the American people hope with his plan, FDR’s New Deal, in which his solution to the Great Depression was to interfere and pass laws to help people at the bottom of the pyramid such as farmers and urban workers and stabilizing the economy by making changes within itself, currencies and other nations. “Using the power of radio to communicate directly with the American people, Roosevelt delivered regular fireside chats in which he boosted morale and informed his audience of the steps the government was taking to help solve their problems”. The New Deal was said to “…provide relief, put millions of people to work, raise prices for farmers, extend conservation projects, revitalize America’s financial system, and rescue capitalism”. The Federal Emergency Relief Administration was created to relief states from being bankrupt by giving cash grants. Harry Hopkins was in charge and was given five hundred million dollars. In the first two hours Hopkins spent five million with no assurance if it would be a good investment in the long run for the economy. The Public Works Administration was also created to help the public by funding people such as architects to construct buildings such as schools and hospitals. Even though the Civilian Conservation Corps employed millions of male workers, during the harsh winters it was not enough relief for those without jobs.
