In William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, it tells a tale of Romeo and Juliet whom were apart of hateful families. Considering they needed a parental influence in their life they were desperate to find someone who could be a role model in their life. Friar Laurence positively influenced the life of Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet were not very close with their rival and money-seeking families, therefore they looked up to someone else to positively or negatively influence their lives.

He is saying that a relationship based off of looks is not a relationship of love or one that will last.
