George Washington was the first US president, and he was the first to chop down a cherry tree plus have wooden teeth. George Washington was very popular among the people and the political parties. Everyone loved him for what he had done for America.

George Washington never abused his power because he was willing to surrender his power. George surrendering his power will always be his most important legacy. As stated in the text, “On December 23, 1783, Washington strode into the Maryland State House in Annapolis and surrendered his military commission to Congress – thereby affirming the principle of civilian control of the military.” This quote is showing that, just because George Washington was most famous for his position as a General, and the first United States President he was willing to surrender his power as both.
