Response to Assignment #3
The story of Gilgamesh is about a man who is transformed from be a prideful king to being a realized king who people centered. Gilgamesh is a man who takes advantage of the women in his city. The men within the city truly hate him because they are unable to defeat him in any of his sporting events. Overall, Gilgamesh was a prideful man who no one can stand up to. Gilgamesh had one flaw and it is that he is one third human. Gilgamesh is a demigod who the people in Uruk could never be able to match up to. As prideful human beings there is a misunderstanding that there can be no one that can be good as us when we are at our prime. The people of Uruk knew that if they had a champion that can beat Gilgamesh ,then the prideful king may step down from his position. The people of Uruk prayed to Aruru. The people of Uruk wanted a king who protects them like a shepherd. Aruru now had to create a new human being that can stand up to Gilgamesh and his name is Enkidu.
Enkidu: "Come, Shamhat, take me away with you to the sacred Holy Temple, the residence of Anu and Ishtar, the place of Gilgamesh, who is wise to perfection, but who struts his power over the people like a wild bull.

Gilgamesh saw his best friend die in which he has no control over. The Gods have allowed Enkidu to die. Gilgamesh had a quest which is to become famous and be remembered all throughout history, however now he wants immortality. If I were in his shoes I would have tried to find a way to bring my best friend back. In the story of Gilgamesh there is no such thing as a fruit of revival. The closest that Gilgamesh can get to revival is the plant of immortality. The man has shifted his views on friendship and respect. Gilgamesh has gone from being self centered to being a generous king who thinks of others. Gilgamesh realizes that he can give the old men in his city the gift of
