In history, there have been changes in a man. Like in the story the Epic of Gilgamesh. In the Epic of Gilgamesh we learn about the king of Uruk. He lives out an epic adventure. The overall theme of the Epic of Gilgamesh is about how people can change.
First in the Epic of Gilgamesh, we learn about how Gilgamesh is an evil ruler and is very selfish. It states in the story that Gilgamesh used to treat all the men like slaves. He would treat the woman worse, and abuse them. He only cared about himself and the people feared him. What could people do against a man who was ⅔ god and ⅓ man?
Next, Gilgamesh meets a man named Enkidu. When Gilgamesh meets Enkidu they brawl. They end up giving up because they find out they’re at equal strength. They end up becoming friends. Gilgamesh finally meets a friend, do you think he’ll be selfish now?

They fight Humbaba and slay him with the help of Shamash. After coming home Gilgamesh was tired. The goddess of love Ishtar fell in love with Gilgamesh and she wanted to marry him, but he refused. So she sent down a mighty bull who killed hundreds of men. Gilgamesh slayed the bull and The the gods decided to kill Enkidu. Gilgamesh became really sad because he lost a friend and tried anything to have him come back. So he went to Utnapishtim, and Urshanabi led him there. He went to Utnapishtim because he wanted to go and get immortality. So he tried and and Utnapishtim asked if he could stay up for six days and six nights. Gilgamesh failed this task because right when he went back in the woods he fell asleep. So then he begged for another chance and it was granted. He was to go find the camel thorn and give it to Utnapishtim so he could restore his youth. Then Gilgamesh got the camel thorn but a snake ate it when he was taking a bath. He wept for a long time.
