Gregor Mendel, the father of genetics, is known for the studies he did on garden peas to better understand heredity. Interestingly enough, his work wasn’t discovered until 1900, thirty four years after it was published, around the time that the microscope was upgraded. He discovered that genes are inherited from each parent, they come in pairs, and noticed the patterns from each generation.
