When you think of the 1930’s you think of the great depression but what about the people who were lived it and made a great impact on society. Jack Dempsey was one of the individuals to make a difference in that time period. He was a famous boxer, Heavyweight champion, to hold that title for 6 years. But that not all he did, so let’s start from the beginning. He was a way for people just to watch something to get their minds off other things happening. He was a big celebrity figure that broke through the fighter = criminal mentality in that time. He wrote an autobiography on himself which is titled Dempsey: The Autobiography of Jack Dempsey.(http://www.biography.com/people/jack-dempsey-9271466) He made several movies in which he starred in or had be made about him. These include, The Big Fight, The Prizefighter and the Lady (1933), and Sweet Surrender (1935). He had a reputation down slide in 1917. He was accused of being a draft dodger in World War I. His fans started rooting against him but he did go to court and proved that he had an exemption. He did end up making the world boxing hall of fame. He was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame in 1954. So he did have some good and bad.
