John Locke was an English philosopher who changed law into what it is today. He was born in 1632 in Wrighton, Somerset, England. His father was a lawyer and also a cavalry soldier. John Locke’s father had many connections with other people that he had gone to war with. With those connections, his father signed John Locke for the elite Westminster School. From there, he had a good education. John Locke studied classical languages, grammar, philosophy, and geometry at Christ Church, Oxford University. But he didn’t find these courses “interesting”. In 1668, John Locke was elected to the Royal Society. Two years earlier, John Locke had met with Lord Ashley, who was soon-to-be the first Earl of Shaftesbury. The two quickly grew a friendship. One year later, The Earl of Shaftesbury persuaded John Locke to move to London and become his physician. In the same year, John Locke supervised a hazardous liver operation on Shaftesbury that saved his life. As Shaftesbury’s reputation boosted quickly, John Locke tasks grew too. He assisted in business and political matters. When Shaftesbury became a chancellor, John Locke also became his secretary of presentations. Along with his duties with Shaftesbury, John Locke also began writing. In 1675, John Locke traveled to France. Once he returned, everything had changed. Most of the political aspects had been changed. He later found out that Shaftesbury was no longer in favor. Even though he hadn’t published his writings, they explained that started seeing government and politics differently since 1671. After Shaftesbury's death, John Locke fled to the Netherlands until things soothed out. After the Glorious Revolution, John Locke was finally able to return to
