Lena Horne was a well known actor, singer, and civil rights activist. She’s experienced racism and sexism in Hollywood and in society, but she didn’t let that stop her. Lena persevered and used her talent and art as a form of activism for African Americans, she challenged racism and segregation, and challenged stereotypes in the industry and paved the way for women of color to have more opportunities in Hollywood and the industry. Langston Hughes was a poet, activist, novelist, and playwright. He wrote stories that used some of his experiences and common experiences of Black Americans to help better represent African Americans in stories and plays in a more positive way. Langston Hughes experienced hate from both white and black people because
