One can say that the Nation of Islam and Elijah Muhammad did have involvement and gave the order in the assassination of Malcolm X however some say otherwise. This essay will discuss the involvement of the Nation of Islam as well as their leader Elijah Muhammad in Malcolm X’s assassination on 21 February 1965. Malcolm X was a former member of the Nation of Islam however his break away from the Nation of Islam led to tension amongst the organisation as well as their leader Elijah Muhammad who was said to have been involved with various women and many children coming from those women. As well as that Malcolm X knew of Elijah Muhammad’s sex scandal that would have the Nation of Islam in disgust if they found about his doings. This would put a bad name on Elijah Muhammad. Malcolm X was a threat to him. One can believe that Hagan was involved as was denied parole 16 times. This leads one to believe that the Nation of Islam and Elijah Muhammad were involved in the assassination of Malcolm X. (Source A)
The Nation of Islam saw Malcolm X as an influential figure in their community and that he had great vocal ability. Once Malcolm X left the Nation of Islam there was immediate tension between the organisation and Malcolm X. This would cause Elijah Muhammad to want to eliminate Malcolm X. Malcolm X became to have his own ideas about the Afro-African movement however Elijah Muhammad saw this as threat to him and the Nation of Islam. There were many people trying to resuscitate Malcolm X when he was killed such as Gene Roberts as well as a nurse, Betty. But everyone knew it was too late but Betty, Malcolm X’s wife reached into his pocket and discovered names of people who would try and kill him and these five men were part of the Nation of Islam but one does not know who gave those five men the order to kill Malcolm X. Hagan was arrested at the scene and two other men Butler and Johnson were arrested in the days to follow. They all received life in prison. Hagan later came forward and said four men were involved in the assassination of Malcolm X. But the names are not mentioned by Hagan. Hagan coming forward with new information leads on to believe that more people were involved. However one does not know of the orders was received from the Nation of Islam or Elijah Muhammad. Although they were part of the Nation of Islam does not mean they received the orders to kill Malcolm X from the Nation of Islam to kill him or if I was spontaneous. (Source
