Martha Chase was an assistant scientist who immensely contributed to science! Although, she is briefly mentioned as the addition to Hershey we should never let her escape our memory. For, she is as unbelievable as Hershey. She was roseate and passionate and always giving to science, it’s unfortunate that she had passed away already. With Hershey’s and her discovery, many experiments by other scientists will be unveiled. Everything about this particular woman is interesting from her life to Martha, herself.
People are wondering who this woman is, and what is she really made of. Well, Martha was one great woman; born in the state where the first traffic light started in Cleveland, Ohio. Basically, her life was surrounded by science like all of our lives are. The first time Martha saw the light of the world was on November 30, 1927; also the first time that Samuel and Sarah, Martha’s biological parents; saw her. Not much was known about her youngster days reason being that she was just an assistant. Yet, she had attended the College of Wooster and after finishing she promptly became Dr. Alfred D. The Hershey-Chase experiment was a sumptuous achievement in confirming that DNA rather than protein carries the genetic information, proved the other scientists inaccurate. The discovery contributed to science by helping Watson and Crick uncover DNA’s structure. After working with Hershey, Martha continued working at Oak Ridge National laboratory in Tennessee,University of Rochester. She had also gone to get her Ph.D. at the University of Southern California. During her years in college, she had married to a scientist Richard Epstein. Before she knew it, they were discrete and had no relation with each other. So, Martha went to live with her father in Cleveland, back to her birth
