In the play Romeo and Juliet, he called out, "O calm, dishonorable, vile submission" (III.1.72). Mercutio demonstrates his loyalty and courage when he takes up Tybalt's challenge to defend his Romeo’s name. Being the relative of the prince makes him have a strong amount of respect for himself, so he thinks Romeo is a coward for not taking up the challenge. Mercutio shows that he is a good friend and that he is courageous by fighting Tybalt in place of Romeo, which in turn leads to his death. If he didn't put himself in that situation than he wouldn’t have been

In Romeo and Juliet, a family feud causes the deaths of innocent people. This play was written by William Shakespeare in the 1597 and it tells the story of star crossed lovers who meet, get married, and die in less than a week. Friar Lawrence is a priest who wants to end the feud and help Romeo and Juliet. Friar Lawrence's poor decisions determine the outcome of the play.
In William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, through the first three acts, Mercutio is the most important character because he participates in all of the major parts of the play. To illustrate, Mercutio is involved in a very pivotal scene where Tybalt is being arrogant and trying to get into fights with the Montagues. Mercutio antagonistically says to Tybalt, “And but one word with one of us? Couple it with / something; make it a word and a blow” leading to a Tybalt and Mercutio fight that Tybalt ultimately wins in the end (3.1.35-36). Romeo fights for Mercutios honor and ends up killing Tybalt.
From the very start Romeo and Mercutio were side by side, this means that Mercutio had a great effect on Romeo's decisions, starting with the night Romeo met Juliet, which in the end leads to his unforgettable death. The night of the Capulets ball Mercutio convinces Romeo to go, to help with the grieving of his loss of love over Rosalie. “Nay, gentle Romeo, we must have you dance”(shakespeare, pg 389) This line in turn leads to what eventually becomes the Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Romeo then meets, and falls in love with the Capulet daughter, Juliet.
and i started to tell Mercutio let's go. Like I state in the first paragraph when Mercutio and I started walking in the village i had a sense something bad was going to happen. Which is why in the book William Shakespeare states on pg 863 that “ I pray thee, good Mercutio, let’s retire. The day is hot, the Capulets abroad, and, if we meet, we shall not scape a brawl, or now, these hot days, is the mad blood stirring.” This means since I already knew that Mercutio gets angry when he is in heat to long I also knew that if a Capulet came around Mercutio would wanna quarrel.
Additionally, Mercutio has a bad disposition.
Some say that opposites attract; in some cases they do and in some they do not. A foil is a character who is opposite of another character in order to highlight certain characteristics in both characters. An example of foils in a play that Shakespeare wrote, Romeo and Juliet, including rambunctious Tybalt and the tranquil Benvolio. Another example is the obnoxious funny Mercutio and the lovey dovey Romeo. Romeo and Juliet was a Shakespearean play written 1595 by William Shakespeare.
Throughout history, it seems that many great stories include an outrageous character that completely grasps the audiences attention. In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Mercutio is considered to be one of Shakespeare's most memorable creations because of his unique personality with the use of his wittiness, him being a foil to Romeo, and his ruining of romantic sentiments. Mercutio's wittiness makes him a memorable character because his silliness conveys the misery starting to screen so the general audience is able to a more prominent attitude. Mercutio begins a fight with Tybalt, but get injured when Tybalt accidents stabs him.
Even though Mercutio is dead throughout some of the play he still lives
He states on page 1078 line ,"Oh, single-soled jest, solely singular for the singleness!" It is less obvious jab back about how Mercutio has only known the single life. Another rhetoric device, hyperbole, can be found on page 1079. Here Mercutio references the nurse to a sail. This compares the nurse and her trench coat to a ship.
To start things off, let us look at how Mercutio’s actions and advice led Romeo to be abhorred by almost everyone in Verona. At the Capulets’ party, Romeo infuriates Tybalt, after Tybalt discovers that a Montague (Romeo) is at the Capulet’s feast. Mercutio was there, and in fact, he led Romeo to be disliked by Tybalt. Mercutio told Romeo he should find love and pursue it even if it does not work out for him.
Romeo is the more serious one. He is overworking and forcing things to happen on a regular basis. Mercutio is the more laid back on. He lets things happen on their own. As the reader can tell, Mercutio does not keep his feelings and thoughts bundled up inside him no matter how inappropriate they are.
Tybalt tells Romeo to fight him, but since Romeo is now married to Juliet, he says that he can’t. To this, Mercutio responds with,“O calm, dishonorable, vile submission!”(3.1.74), and then proceeds to fight Tybalt on Romeo’s behalf in defense of the Montague name. It’s clear through Mercutio’s rage felt diction towards Romeo such as “dishonorable” and “vile” that he believes Romeo’s efforts to make peace are acts of betrayal to his own family. Because of Mercutio’s brash actions in the act of defending his family’s honor, he ends up being injured and killed by Tybalt, all because he felt so much hate that he couldn’t stand down like Romeo had. Mercutio’s death made Romeo blindly angry to the point where he killed Tybalt, who was technically a part of his family.
He was considered witty and irrational, but Mercutio was also immature, prideful and short-tempered. By Mercutio forcing Romeo to attend the masquerade, he was aiding his own death. If Mercutio had never prompted his friends to go to the gathering, Tybalt never would’ve spotted Romeo therefore he wouldn’t have sent the challenge letter for the duel that Mercutio fatally took upon himself to fight. More explicitly though, if Mercutio would’ve listened to Benvolio when he said,“I pray thee, good Mercutio, let’s retire./The day
