People you can truly trust and confide in are hard to find, so when you find someone like this you keep them close. In the story "Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare you meet two people close to the main character, Romeo. Romeo is very lucky because he has multiple friends like this, which can strike up a debate on who is better, Friar Lawrence or Mercutio? While they both prove to have amazing qualities, Mercutio takes the cake with his endless jokes, bluntness, and how caring he is. While Friar Lawrence was also a good friend ,he just didn't carry himself in the same way. He is able to learn lessons from Mercutio that help to make him a better person such as "If love be blind, love cannot hit the mark" ("Romeo and Juliet" 1066 line 33-34). He was able to better his mood even when he was down. Life can be hard without laughter, but Mercutio was able to lessen the pain. On page 1078 Mercutio says, "Nay, I am the very pink of courtesy."
