Have you ever seen a football game and wondered how the players got there? Michael Oher is a person who had many problems during his lifetime. How he overcame these problems is what made him a very special person. In Michael's case it was a story with many ups and downs which eventually ended with him becoming a football player. My essay is about the hardships faced by Michael Oher and how he overcame them to become one of the great offensive lineman in the NFL.
Michael Oher`s early life was extremely difficult for him. Michael was born in Memphis Tennessee on May 28, 1986. Michael`s biological mom, Denise Oher, was a cocaine addict and his biological dad, Michael Jerome Williams, was always in and out of prison until he was eventually killed when Michael was in high school. He has 12 siblings (11 living now) 9 boys and 3 girls, who were all very close, and would do almost anything for each other (Oher 10,20). Even though they were so close a family they weren't all born to the same father(Oher 20). Michael and his sister Denise were born to the same father but the rest of his siblings weren't (Oher 8-9) . After Michael graduated High School he was offered many football scholarships from Division 1 teams and accepted the one to Ole Miss(Oher 154). After graduating college, he was picked in the first round of the NFL draft by the Baltimore Ravens. He quickly became an amazing Offensive Lineman and went on to win the SuperBowl as a Baltimore Raven in 2012. In March of 2015, Michael signed a contract with the Tennessee Titans for 7.5 Million Dollars a year.
