Heroes are people who stand for what they believe in. A hero is someone who is selfless, thinks of others before themselves, and have made a significant impact in history. These individuals perform extraordinary deeds, and make sacrifices for the greater good. Most heroes believe that the world can always be changed for the better. A hero who changed the world is Muhammad Ali, Ali was a hero because he stood for peace, he gave to others while struggling with Parkinson's disease and was a legendary boxer who changed the game. The life of this hero was that of an ordinary American until one day it changed. He was Born Cassius Clay on January 17, 1942 in the city of Louisville, Kentucky. His father was an average American man making a living off of being a painter and a part time musician. Cassius found his talent on a particular day in 1954. A boy stole his newly acquired bike. When talking to the cop by the name of Joe Martin, Clay said “I want to beat up whoever did this.” What Cassius didn't know is that Martin runs a boxing gym in his free time, so he invited him to learn how to fight. …show more content…

Ali was one of the most glorified boxers in history, a peace maker, medal of freedom recipient and a determined philanthropist. Ali was drafted to go into war against Vietnam but a Yahoo article stated, “Ali refused to go to war because he believed in peace and his Muslim religion said he is not permitted to kill” (Iole). Ali was banned from boxing for this action but still stood strong on his belief. He was a three time heavyweight world champ, some people consider him the greatest boxer of all time. He created his own charity for Parkinson’s and built “The Ali Center” in Louisville, Kentucky. He is famous for his quote “Fly like a butterfly, sting like a bee.” Ali fought through Parkinson's disease for 32 years but died in 2016. 20,000 people attended his funeral in Louisville at the KFC Yum
