Since the beginnings of organized peoples, the god idea was the center of life. The creator supposedly set up rulers for the people to revere. When new scientific ideas of spontaneous creation emerged many people had a new idea of government; why should they serve a king if there are gods who placed their rulers above them. The theories of atheism sparked rebellion in numerous nations. France was one of those nations and it sprung forth a government of exciting and liberating new ideas of equality. But the people were not fit to bring about these new ideas and uphold the important roles of the government. The country soon reeked of havoc and dissention and after many regimes tried their hand at power the country got worse, but to the country’s rescue was the heroic Napoleon. When Napoleon took over, he made great changes to the government and economy of the country of France. In the government, Napoleon did not always act with such tyranny; some of his decisions were made for the good of the people. The key governmental issues were pushed aside while the people fought and talked over nonsense (Weidhorn 48). When he took over, noticing the distress of his people, he made some positive changes that promoted the government. He created the Legion of Honor to acknowledge the accomplishments of the people. This system is still in France today (Weidhorn 55). He protected the welfare of the government by banishing certain people who were threats to the system and bring back others. He also stopped celebrations that aroused rebellion and strife (Durant 160). Overall Napoleon was very impactful on the government in France during his time and even some today.
