Nathanael greene was appointed in the army as a private before the Revolution. After the Revolution started, he was appointed a brigadier when Rhode Island started their army of defense (Legendsofamerica.com). His cause for joining was simply because he wanted to. Midway through the revolution George washington added him to his army as a Major General. He started out with George Washington as a Major General but then swiftly became one of the top 4 commanding generals under Washington (Nathanael Greene was born/ loc.gov). Nathanael Greene after the war gave much money to support the rest of the war and then was given a plantation for his service. He lived on the plantation for less than a year then left for insecure finances (Georgiaencyclopedia). Greene died from sunstroke at the age of forty-four. Buried at Savannah’s Colonial park cemetery he was reinterred in 1902 beneath the monument made in his honor at Johnston square.He definitely died a man of honor and was greatly praised. And had many people after him remember him as a honorable
