The Renaissance was a period of cultural rebirth lasting from the 14th century to the 17th century. This time frame is considered to be the period between the dark middle ages and the modern era. The word Renaissance actually means “rebirth”. During this era, a cultural movement began spreading the ideas of rethinking in new ways. This new thinking is now known as Humanism. Humanism is a philosophy that focused on reevaluating and learning of Roman and Greek classics. In hope of finding guidance for a better further, the Latin classics they studied contained valuable life lessons on how to live a morally correct and effective life. Realism is how things actually look. One thing that artist contributed was a highly realistic linear perspective. Just like it changes in every generation, Music was developed in the polyphonic style, 2 dimensional sound of the Franco-Flemish school. Music was then made easier to share once the printing press was invented. This helped the English poet and playwright, William Shakespeare. In his time, we wrote about 38 plays, 154 sonnets, and many other forms of literature. A few of his plays included, but were not limited to, Romeo and Juliet, A Midnight Summer’s Dream, and Julius Caesar. His contributions helped create a new style of play writing by combining tragedies and comedies into one, during the renaissance. During the renaissance, Science was another important aspect. Instead of studying the world around them, Philosophers like Leonardo Da Vinci took interest in human anatomy. Leonardo Da Vinci was an Italian polymath, a man of many studies. He was a skilled inventor, painter, sculptor, artist, builder and scientist. He was the true definition of a renaissance man with a never ending imagination. He
