Many colored individuals were forced into slavery and each and everyone of the slaves had a different experience with their master. The slaves were treated as if they were nothing, a piece of property that the white people owned. They were not allowed to learn how to read or write; only needed to know how to do their chores and understand what their master was saying. They were just an extra hand in the house that had no say or existed in the white people world. The slaves’ job was to obey their master or mistress at all times, do their chores and take the beating if given one.

Hoe created the rotary printing that led to millions of copies of papers printed for a lower cost. Another way that slavery affected American culture in the Antebellum Period is the rise of canal- building. In 1817, construction began on the Erie Canal to link Lake Erie and the Hudson River.
Many African-Americans were treated unequally after the Civil War. In source 1, the text states that racial tensions across the country were extremely high after the Civil War, and African Americans continued to deal with oppression (source 1, paragraph 1). This evidence proves that even though African Americans were no longer slaves after the Civil War, they still were being treated unfair. With that in mind, many African Americans had experienced horrible times during the 1800s just because of the color of their skin. According to source 1, back in the 1800s, there were “whites only train cars” and “blacks only train cars”, and the cars were not the same quality (source 1, paragraph 5).

It was much harder to get an education as an African American because of the lack of having an available school near you or schools, or having a school that is sufficient for a proper education. Even if there was a school nearby, it would have less funding so there would be less materials that were of poor quality, not as well-maintained buildings, qualified staff etc. In some areas, African Americans were not allowed to use textbooks with the constitution or Declaration of Independence, so that the students wouldn’t get ideas that would lead them to wanting equality. This lack of an educational foundation made it even harder for African Americans to move up in a society that was already stacked against them, and it was almost impossible to achieve a life like white people. Slavery ended in the late 1800s and it was a major controversy to the Northern States. The Northern states were anti-slavery while the Southern states were pro-slavery. Since they were two different opinions because the northern states did not accept or want slavery to keep happening it ended All this slavery controversy and war could have been avoided by simply making slavery legal in all states, replacing the president, and machines being created faster than they were. Also, there were ways they could settle these opinions, and one way is they could have made slavery legal which all the people would have come together and unite as one.
Between 1800 and 1860 two major things changed within the country. The cash crops changed from tobacco and rice to the new money maker cotton. Along with the crops changing the slave trade grew to replace the economic short fall in the Chesapeake area. These changed occurred due to the supply and demand of commonly bought goods. Another contributing factor for the crops changing was the invention of the cotton gin in 1793 and the use of cotton in textile facilities.
In the 1800's whites didn't want blacks to learn how to read or write. This is because the slave owners or masters didn't want blacks to write their own passes. A pass in the 1800's is like a note or a hall pass in high school you have these so you can go somewhere, an example of this in the 1800's is being able to see family and an example of this in high school is going to the restroom. In the book kindred, Tom Weylin said to Rufus that "A nigger can read better than you."(Butler 102).
People that owned slaves were mostly planters, yeoman, and whites. A slave is a person who is legal property of another and is forced to obey and that 's exactly what slaves did, they obeyed every command. Slaves were used for a lot of things in the 1800s. Slave women were usually used for cooking, cleaning, and helped with planter’s children.
Slaves had a tough life they suffer a lot and misjudge for many years they were treated miserable for a long time they had an exhausting time. The slaves faced danger, but they had their ways to get over how they were treated. The life for the slaves were really for them difficult because they work so hard and they didn’t even get payed. They tried to defeat the wage upon them but some of them found their way. Mostly all enslaved people they couldn’t be free they were basically born for that reason some of them didn’t even had hope because they were treated so bad.
Long ago, there was different views on the topic of slavery. While some deemed it a necessity to live a good life, others saw it as unconstitutional. Back then, life was very different than how it is now. As time goes on, we have found a way to move forward, but Americans will always remember the period of slavery. Slavery impacted the United States by bringing social tensions to people in the north and south, and by creating federal policies that forever changed the concept of slavery.
Slave treatment has always been an issue throughout history. The mistreatment of slaves during the mid-1800’s caused many slaves to run away or even start a slave rebellion. Just like in the book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Jim ran away from his slave owner. The mistreatment of slaves varied depending on the plantation or farm and who the owner of the slaves were.
I was the happiest man in the world. Red Chief was still missing and I have not any painful migraines ever since . I was so happy I even went out for dinner and got my favorite meal. After dinner, I thought I might as well have a late night drink and then off to bed. After I drank a little sweet whiskey I started to feel a little headache, but that's ok because there is no Red Chief and that means no migraines.
Sexually, mentally, and physically abused; slaves were struck, smacked and slapped by their masters. Slavery is a practice in which people own other people. A slave is the property of his or her owner and works without pay. The owner, who is called a master or mistress, provides the slave with food, shelter, and clothing. Slavery is a cruel and abusive way to get work done.
Slavery, the War on Black Family While slavery in America was an institution that was started over 400 years ago, the affects were so horrific that it is still felt today by modern day African Americans. Many families had to deal with the constant stress of being sold which made it difficult to have a normal family life. Slaves were sold to pay off debts, an owner dying and his slaves were sold in an estate sale, or when an owner’s children would leave the home to begin a life of their own, they would take slaves with them. Often times, children were not raised by their parents, other family members of someone designated to watch the children because the mother and father had to work long hours and the children were too young to join them.
