In Solomon Northup's "Excerpt from Twelve years a slave" Northup's cruel false captivation represents the awful human trafficking in society today, and how Trafficking victims are forced to perform different types of labor for ones pleasures or luxury. "These refined words” that solomon shared “reflect a happy life” in the “family before Solomon was arrested.”(Guo 848), Guo knew just like anyone reading northups article how much he loved his kids, out of Nothups own mouth he expressed how he cherished his kids. “Their presence was my delight” and “I clasped them to my bosom” with as “warm and tender love” as if their “clouded skins” had been as “white as snow” (Northup 9) …show more content…

Northup's story is a reminder that we must remain watchful in the fight against exploitation and abuse of vulnerable people, and continue to work towards a world in which all human beings are free and equal. As a society, we must strive to learn from Northup's story and work toward justice for those who have been wrongfully ripped from their natural born rights and forced to do hard labor, sexual acts etc. Would you enjoy being trafficed?
