The launch of the Apollo 11 made history in the 1960s. The mission set the first man on the moon, as well as putting the United States ahead of the Soviet Union in the Space Race. The crew consisted of three well trained astronauts, Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and pilot Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin. The Apollo 11 had a significant impact on the 1960s because it put the first ever man on the moon.

The objective of the mission was to complete the goal set by John F. Kennedy, the president of the United States at this point in time.
