Unit 3 Initial Writing Task In the aftermath of the successful American Revolution, the Founding Fathers were given the responsibility of creating a new national government for their newly independent nation, the United States of America. Fearing the oppressive capabilities of a strong government as a result of their struggles with Great Britain, the Founding Fathers initially decided to create a weaker central government called the Articles of Confederation. Before long, the Founding Fathers discerned that the Articles of Confederation were failing. An enduring issue which connects to this time period in United States history is the enduring issue of “conflict” because there was a plethora of conflicts created by the weakness of the Articles, as evidenced by documents 1 and 2.
The Articles of Confederation were, in short, a hot mess. Nothing could get done; the power dynamics among the thirteen states and the lack of power within the federal government to intervene led to utter disarray. In Document 3, George Washington admits in a letter that the Articles of Confederation were faulty in that they had “too good an opinion of human nature” and the leniency of the Articles had created “thirteen sovereign, independent, disunited States”. The hopes of creating a nation out of the thirteen colonies were destroyed with the Articles of Confederation, and unity could only be achieved through establishing a stronger national government. If the new United States were to continue with the Articles of Confederation (articles that made states independent and also had a central government with little power) then the nation would dissolve. So, after many arguments, the constitution was made. This constitution gave rights, it gave liberty, and it gave freedom to all who had suffered under the British monarchy and it would keep people free for generations and generations to come. This key item made such significance because those who had suffered under corrupt ruling, by the British, were finally free, they finally could say something and use their god given right. And this constitution supported them, and gave them a life worth
Ultimately it allowed the founding fathers to recognized the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation and fix the shortage of this prestigious paper. As the Constitution was ratified it offered solutions to all the problems the nation was facing and brought all thirteen colonies into one. The Constitution created a system that divided Congress into two houses, first the House of Representatives then the Senate. This helped give people from the smaller states a voice against the bigger states and its people, which lead for equal representation. The ratification also gave the central government more power while Congress gained the power to enforce good interstate relations and regulate trade being made.
The Articles of Confederation were not the ideal set of laws that the founding fathers intended. They had their flaws, but they also contain a few laws that fixed some current problems of the country. The problems that faced the new nation were, the need for unification and preservation of this unification of the states, the rules emplaced on expansion and settlement of western lands, and it set up a economy, that was vital to the country. The states had just won the revolutionary war by coming together to fight the British, and the Articles of Confederation made sure that this unification was official and permanent.
The Articles of Confederation (A.o.C.) were the most influential in the development of American political values beacuse they paved the way for the goverment established in modern day America. The A.o.C. did this by allowing the public to vote for representititves in Congress and Limiting the power of the central goverment. By letting the public vote, they formed a reprsenetitive goverment. This allowed the canidate who was most appeling to the public eye and who most of the people thought would do a good job to "lead" the country. However, because they limited the power of the goverment, the president was not allowed to pass a law without approvemnt by Congress.
The constitutional convention was like a mouse trap. We are in a time where we consider our current condition to be unstable and unorganized as a country. We are fed lies about how astonishing our current government is, but in reality there are many aspects that are needed to be fixed. Many claim to have a vast knowledge on our broken system, yet they do less than the minimum in order to fix it. On the contrary, once the colonies got their Independence, there was one person who did see the mistakes that were in the Articles of Confederation.
Back when the united states of america were free from England, they needed a government the founding fathers were scared of making a government with too much power so they wrote the Articles of confederation with some flaws . The “ Articles “ were too weak and created many problems which led to a way stronger government. Two weaknesses of the Articles of confederation are that the states had way too much power. Another problem from the Article of confederation is that 9/13 must approve a law also another one is that each state has it's own currency. And two important decision were the Checks and Balances and the Great compromise.

The colonies had been in search to create a more centralized government. Since most colonies had taken more care of their own individual interests, it had been much easier to agree upon and form state institutions. Rather than focusing on the importance of the growth of a strong united but yet equally independent structure for their own national gorvernment.
With the revolution won, the colonist’s drafted the first known constitution as the Articles of Confederation. Favoring power to the separate states instead of a national government, the influence of King George III permanently ridded the conscience of the colonists from one body, or group, having excessive power over the nation. In all, the power came from the People. Regardless of the colonist’s success, however, led to more dire situations in their growth.

There were many things wrong with the way that the country was being governed, so James Madison wrote a new set of rules for the government and people of America to follow. One of the strengths of the Constitution is that it makes sure that the “states accept the Constitution as the supreme law of the land”, states Document Five, and that gave more order. Every state had to follow the same set of rules, had to pass the same laws, and they had a national court system. The Constitution helped to keep America unified because there were different branches of government. There was a legislative branch in which there were two houses and in which laws were made, an executive branch with the president and vice president in which laws were enforced, and a judicial branch in which there was the supreme court who evaluates laws.
After their triumph in the American Revolution, colonists came together as one to forge the United States of America and to reorganize the colonies after the war. The Articles of the Confederation were America’s first form of self-government. During the time period in which they were in use, there effectiveness were tested through events dealing with foreign relations, economic conditions and the settlement of western lands.
