The British Treatment and the Colonial Resistance both played big roles leading up to the American Revolution. The British wanted to colonists under their control and the colonists wanted fairer treatment than they were getting. The British treatment was really unfair to the colonist’s due to the laws that the British enforced on the colonist’s. One of the unfair laws was the Stamp Act. It was unfair because it taxed colonist without their consent.
During the 17th and 18th centuries, the British government was in control of the North American colonies. The prime reason for the British government to control the English colonies was so Britain could trade with the colonies. The English colonies had crops like sugar and tobacco that couldn’t be grown in England so the British relied on the colonies to ship these products to them. The colonies were able to use the British ships in trade for the colonies’ crops. With the policy of mercantilism developing in the 17th century, Britain said they could help the English colonies become a strong country by trading, even though the trading mostly helped the British.

Furthermore, Great Britain caused a tremendous amount of irritation to develop inside of the colonists. The Revolutionary War showed that it is a necessity for Americans to have their opinions voiced.
The French And Indian War was the first event that led up to the Revolutionary War. Many European countries were claiming land in North America. The French and the British both wanted Ohio Valley and other places that weren’t clearly confirmed of whose land it belonged to. They started fighting over it. This caused the French And Indian War.
