As a result of the rush, led to the expansion the american nation. The gold rush brought thousands of people to the foothills, with hopes of getting rich. Yet only portion of the thousands of miners would even approach wealth. The rush reformed California history, It gave California its motto, “Eureka” which means, “I’ve found it”, referring to the finding of gold. The California Gold Rush started in a small town on a small mill on the American River. John Sutter came to California with his mind on the potential agricultural wealth to gain from all the prospectors. John had purchased a piece of land next to the american river so that he could build his very own mill on it. Not long after Marshall would be faced with a problem that the river was not deep enough. The California gold rush to many is a mesmerizing time in the history pertaining to westward migration in the United States. The gold rush played an important part in immigrant population because it the time phase most immigrants from all around entered into the united states. Immigrant groups, such like the Chinese, started to come to the United States after hearing the news of the discovery of gold in California, over the months more and more immigrants started to come by the thousands consequently laws had to be set in place to limit immigrants entering the united states and limit the egalitarianism of the new comers in order to make it fair for the miners who were true americans.
