In his first 18 months of rule, Castro implemented several political changes that would affect the structure of the government.
No elections would be held and No traditional parliamentary democracy or political parties.
The PSP and other groups became the Integrated Revolutionary Organization. After the Bay of Pigs, on April 16th, 1961, Cuba declared the revolution was socialist.

-Castro saw that Cuba needed a greater political change in the late 80’s.
