During the middle ages the Arab Empire was one of the most advanced with trade, economics, arts, and culture. After the crusades however, Europe had asserted itself into a position of more power, bringing the Islamic world into a secondary position. New goods led to people going on more expeditions to harvest those goods, which led to multiple land discoveries for Europe.
