They boarded three ships in the Boston Harbor and threw 342 chests of tea overboard. It took nearly three hours to accomplish this. The British Parliament passed the Tea Act on April 27, 1773 which was a import tax and it raised the price of tea to three cents per pound on all tea sent to America.

The Tea Acts passed by Parliament started the colonists down the path of anger. The Tea Acts were caused by the East India Company going bankrupt that is the reason the colonist got taxed in the first place. The East India Company was running out of money and they were acquainted with the colonies government so to help out the company the government of the colonies agreed to taxes the colonist
The Tea Act put a taxation on the tea imports, and the other form of taxation the British government put forth was one that was set to pay the troop who were sent over by Britain to help fight in the French and Indian War. The taxes Britain implemented on Americans only angered the colonies even more; they felt that if they had no one in parliament, they should not be taxed for
The British colonists were unsatisfied with the cruel treatment administered by King George. He unfairly began to tax everything imported to the Americas which caused them to suffer in poverty. Because they thought of themselves as citizens, the settlers abhorred the taxations made without their representation in the government. To elucidate their anger, the pioneers dressed up as Indians and threw dozens of barrels filled with tea into the Boston Harbor. Soon after this protest, King George wrongfully closed the Boston port to stop goods from arriving.
The British increased import duties on the tea to support the troubled East India Company, which resulted in Charleston, New York and Philadelphia rejecting the shipment of tea. However, Samuel Adams and other colonists boarded the ships in Boston harbor and threw away the trunks of tea into the sea (Hagist, 2013). In retaliation, the British passed various punitive coercive acts. In this way, a series of events and wars followed between British and the colonists, which ensued the Congress to adopt the Declaration of

British Parliament failed to show any representation for the taxes to the citizens of Boston, hence began the saying “No Taxation Without Representation”. Enraged by the actions of Parliament, the Sons of Liberty united, went under disguise as Native Americans, and dumped a large load of British Tea into the Boston harbor. Due to our
“Taxation Without Representation” American colonists thought that Britain was taxing them unfairly for the expenses caused during the French and Indian war or that Parliament had the right to tax them since there weren’t any American colonies represented in Parliament. Since the American colonists drank a lot of tea, Britain decided to impose taxes on the American colonies. Because the taxes increased, the American colonists started to smuggle tea from the Dutch and other European countries. The Boston Tea Party was the first significant act of defiance by American colonists and was one of the things that lead to the start of the American Revolution, which began in Massachusetts on April 19, 1775.
In 1767 Parliament went on to levy another list of taxes on lead, paints, and tea. To prevent any protests from the colonists the Massachusetts governor requested assistance from the British army (sparknotes). Five colonists died when an angry mob clashed with the army, this is known as the Boston Massacre (sparknotes). The Boston Tea Party was a famous moment during the road to Revolution. On December 16th, 1773 sixty men dressed as Native Americans dumped an entire shipment on tea into the Boston Harbor in protest of the laws and taxes imposed on the colonies.
After winning the French and Indian War, the colonists were not very happy with Britain. They weren’t being given the rights they deserved. They fought in a war to colonize in the West, but due to the Proclamation of 1763, they couldn’t settle in the land they had just one. Yet, the British still had to pay money for the war, so they forced the colonists to pay taxes on paper, tea, sugar, and more. Without the rights they deserved and being overtaxed, the colonists were outraged and a group called the Sons of Liberty formed and rebelled against the British.
This eventually would lead into the Crispus Attack. Many are starting to call this tragedy the Boston Massacre. In the previous events the British was taxing the mess out of the colonist. Everything that the colonist bought, the British would tax. Some of the taxed items were on sugar, stamps, and even tea.
On May 5, 1770, a street fight between the British soldiers and the Boston colonists erupted which later became known as the Boston Massacre. The events of the Boston Massacre occured after the French and Indian war, when the British were in great debt. This caused them to pass many acts like the Sugar Act and the Stamp Act, which taxed colonists when they bought or imported certain goods. The Sugar Act set duties on sugar and molasses imported by colonists, while the Stamp Act required colonists to pay for an official stamp when buying paper items. The Quartering Act of 1768 was also later passed which forced colonists to house British soldiers in their own homes.
