Before the industrial revolution america only had raw resources like cotton lumber,wheat,grains etc. America would trade those raw resources for manufactured goods from britain. When great britain got mad and started a war with france, america wanted to stay neutral but eventually america got caught up in the war, because america was trading with both france and great britain. The british blockaded america and that's when the I believe the industrial revolution truly began. When the british blockaded america, america had to make their own manufactured goods, because they were cut off from all their ports, and were not able to trade with any other foreign nations. Inventions sped up and paved the path to the factory system, another invention that highly helped reach the factory system is interchangeable parts also made by Eli Whitney. Interchangeable parts,is when they made every part the same, so when something breaks they could just replace that specific part. This helps make a factory system work, a factory system uses machines in factories to make everything easier, faster and cheaper to produce products. Britain was way ahead in the factory system industry, one of the huge leaps into the factory system is when Samuel Slater brought british textile technology to america and that gave america a major boost in the factory industry. He brought technology to america by remembering all the mechanics to a factory, and fixed up all the other factories that were half made when he arrived in america. I believe this era, of industrial revolution had a very big impact, it impacted the civil war, allowing the union to win the war.and that war impacted the way we live today. The industrial revolution made all the technology that we have and use every minute of every day
