The United States in the early to mid 1900s was met with several new deal programs in hopes to put an end to the great depression. Before the year 1929, the US stock market was seen as indestructible. Wall Street basically controlled the entire American economy, until the stock market crashed. The stock market crash of 1929 led to several economic changes, such as the great depression, that had the lower and middle class of the United States in a frenzy. The American people needed an end to the great depression, and the American government needed a way to put the American economy back on track, thus the creation of several new deal programs, the most important being the Civilian Cooperation Corps, the Agricultural Adjustment Act, and the

Many lower and middle class families were struggling with even feeding the entire family or paying for heat or electricity with the lack of income. To attempt to get more of the American population employed in work, the U.S. government created the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1933. Roosevelt’s new deal supplied jobs for men who did not have to be particularly skilled to be payed to plant trees, construct and upgrade state parks, or build service buildings. The CCC supplied their workers with shelter, food, clothing, and small wages to send to their families. At the time the Civilian Conservation Corps was in place, three million men in total had been employed at some time in the successful new deal program. The stock market crash also put farmers into a panic to sell their crops, leading to the creation of the Agricultural Adjustment Act. The value of crops at the time was greatly reduced due to surplus amounts, causing the American government to readjust the economy.
