The progressives, wanted to create a society that acted as one. The idea of being an individual was something to be forgotten in order to create a more perfect civilization of order and pureness. During this time of the progressive movement, the rest of society began to reject it ideology of their message and goals of nonpleasure and work. he Progressive Era was when Americans were getting more rights and our country’s economy was changing for the better. There were also people called muckrakers who helped expose the truth about were the poor immigrants of America were living and what the meat making industry was really like. There was also a lot child labor happening which was when children worked in terrible working conditions and didn’t get paid as much as adults did. The senators at the time of the suffrage movement were usually the corrupt business owners of america who would use trusts and monopolies to keep their businesses going. Women were also fighting to have the same amount of rights as men did during this time.
The popularity of the Progressive movement in the early 1900's was due to several social and cultural changes in the United States. In the wake of chaotic reorganizations of the country after industrialization and urbanization, as well as the influences of earlier ideological movements such as Populism and Pragmatism, the Progressives sought to bring order and progress to society through central planning, social reform, and even social control. The intellectuals were understood to have the best interests of the people in mind, and therefore had the responsibility to intervene in society through the means of the state. These areas of intervention included sanitation, inculcation of certain moral and behavioral habits, environmental conservation,
Women were finally granted the right to vote during the Progressive Era. This was a pivotal change because it allowed women to have one of the rights that we consider very basic in today's world. This allowed them to voice their opinions and ideas on a political scale. Allowing them to actually influence change, such as during the child labor
The Progressive Era was from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. It was filled with muckrakers trying to eliminate the flaws in the US. This included problems such as the exploitation of workers, tenement housing, and impure food and drugs. These problems were hurting U.S. citizens and needed to be fixed. Without muckrakers and people who saw what was happening and wanted change, these problems could still be here today.
Jane Addams The Progressive Era, 1890-1920, accomplished great change in the Unites States of America. Many reformers and activits demanded for change in education, food and drug policies, and most importantly the govermenet. The goal for the movement was the purify the nation. One of the main activits during this time was Jane Addams. Jane Addams is often refered to as a social and political pioneer.
From the late 18th century to the early 19th century, progressives fought to draw attention to America's problems. From social, economic and political problems, Americans brought these issues to the government to listen to them. The progressive movement is dedicated to improving the lives of Americans by creating programs to provide relief. Some beneficial reforms that were important in the progressive era were the birth control movement, the Square Deal, and the temperance movement. The birth control movement was a social reform program that advocated for both the availability and acceptance of contraceptive devices.
One of the main limitations were the laws, they stopped people from fair competition for benefits of consumers. Many Progressives supported a lot of the limitations because they wanted to destroy or ruin political power that most people did not want or need. At the same time women suffrage was brought up and disguised because women wanted equal rights or the same rights that men have. One accomplishment was women's rights, women wanted the right to vote just like men have the right to vote. Many activist joined protest groups to stop the local government because the government was corrupt and was not needed.
In the period between 1900 and 1920, the federal government and reformers were very successful in bringing social, economic, and political reform to the federal government. While not every aspect of it was successful, the rights of women, fighting against child labor and limiting the control of trusts and monopolies were three distinct successes of that time. Even before the progressive era, women challenged their place and articulated new visions of social, political and economic equality. The progressive era was a turning point for women as organizations evolved fighting for equal rights. Woman began to become very involved in a variety of reform movements.
During the progressive era our country faced many problems. The rise of substantial businesses caused industrial problems. Women suffrage, alcohol, child labor, and safety issues caused social problems. The necessitation of citizens in government decisions also caused political problems. Progressives were people who wanted to solve all of these quandaries.
The progressive era which lasted from 1890-1920 in American society was the institution of radical reforms brought about by the millions of Americans involved in volunteer organizations across the country. During this time Americans worked to create solutions to the problems caused by the rapid industrialization and urbanization of the country. The progressive era was not a single movement, but rather a collection of movements all of which were intended to improve the lives of Americans. This was a truly remarkable time for women and the end of the era would see almost universal women’s suffrage with the passing of the nineteenth amendment in 1920.
The Progressive Era marked a turning point for women in America because it was when women took their values that they taught in the home and applied them to social, political, and labor issues. One of the main focuses of women at the time was on social issues. Women felt that during the Gilded Age, the idea of the Cult of Domesticity was still prominent and that they were treated as second class citizens. Progressives were known to want to change society and improve conditions. They focused their efforts on urban settings. (Barnes & Bowles 2014) They wanted to help people have a nice place to live, one that was not over crowded, also to help them have clean water/food. This is during a time when there was no welfare, food stamps, or Medicaid.
The Progressive era was a very important time period that changed how people perceive the world. The Progressive era was the age that made different views acceptable and actually encouraged. People with influence started to support minorities and views that have had little to none support. During this time progressivism exploded, and the world was changing. Progressive ideas, or new/futuristic ideas that people had were accepted.

During this time, Americans decided their political system needed to adjust to new conditions and they pushed for reforms in which they faced opposition. Because of this, they had to try different ways to achieve these reforms. During this time there was racial prejudice and elitism. Some of the reforms that were put in place at this time were the Progressive income tax and the Federal Trade Commission.
