He also wanted to gain back German land that was lost in the treaty. Hitler and his Nazi party vowed to create a powerful German Empire, that would take over all of Europe. The fear of communism was another way the dictator Adolf Hitler gained power. Germans were fearful of a communist revolution, because of their unstable economy. Hitler promised to save Germany from communism.
One of the reasons why the world suffered another war is because Germany violated the Treaty of Versailles. They violated the treaty so their country would be great and they would get back to their original status before WWI. Hitler promised the German people that he will bring Germany out of the crash and make Germany more powerful than before. Adolf Hitler shares some of his ideas the German people, ”Oppressed territories are led back to the bosom of a common Reich, not by flaming protest, but by a mighty sword”(Document 1). Hitler is trying to convince the German people that they should start taking over land, not peacefully but by force.
200,000 Germans became prisoners in Falasie pocket. Only around 15,000 French men were killed. This was a turning point in the war because many men were wounded, captured, or killed in a very short amount of time. Also the amount of air and naval help from the Allied countries really helped, it was twelve countries against Germany. The war may have turned out a lot differently if General Eisenhower waited two weeks for the storms to come, instead of last minute deciding to proceed with he plan on June 6th.
Hitler not listening to Jodl and other military officials caused him not to win over the Soviet Union because when he did decided to go to Moscow
Neville Chamberlain had thought that with this agreement to give the Sudetenland to Germany, Hitler would end because the other countries feared him and wanted to avoid what happened in 1914-1918 (The Munich Conference). This fear, however, drove Hitler even more to continue. This appeasement was a great mistake by the world leaders at the Munich Conference because they showed Hitler that they were afraid of him, allowing him to do more things that went against the Treaty of Versailles without any counteraction. Showing Adolf Hitler the fear of the other European countries and allowing him to take control of the Sudetenland was one of the greatest mistakes that the great leaders could make at the Munich
. had he continued to move toward war”(GK 7). Although Germany was a powerful country at the time, they were only starting to rebuild from the Treaty of Versailles. Germany had many weaknesses in their economy and politics, many other countries were much stronger and more prepared for war than Germany would have been. Appeasing Hitler multiple times, gave Nazi Germany time to grow stronger and prepare for the war they created.
He knew that as long as he promised to keep the peace there would be no repercussions for his actions. For example, they allowed Hitler to take back the Rhineland and annex Austria, invade the Sudetenland, and invade Poland. On top of that, Hitler signed a pact with Joseph Stalin, the leader of Russia, making them the largest superpower in the world. The policy of appeasement achieved nothing besides giving Hitler the power he wanted to achieve his dream of world domination. However, the invasion of Poland was the final straw for Britain.
Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, and Vladimir Lenin had total control of the population in Germany, Italy, and Russia. In documents B, A, and E, fear tactics are shown because Document B refers directly to Adolf Hitler. He says, “we confess that it is our purpose to prepare the German people again for the role of the hammer,” (Document B). This evidence supports the indisputable proof that Adolf Hitler used fear tactics because he knew that the Treaty of Versailles permitted Adolf to build his army. Still, Adolf claims that it is Germany's purpose to rebuild and prepare for war if one was to occur.
They felt vulnerable to everyone. France is right next to Germany, and refuse to let them have any military forces at the border. (Doc A) Germany is even more defenseless and they have to obey by what France tells them. Since
However, they both knew that this wasn’t true, they would eventually attack each other, the pat just bought them time. Hitler too would make the mistake in attacking Russia, he too would begin to spiral downward. Hitler lost in Russia due to being unprepared for the war and being blinded by his ego. His troops were not ready for the harsh Russian winter, and it did not help that they Russians once again used the Scorched Earth Policy as they retreated. Hitler severely msjudged the numerous amounts of soldiers Russia had.
The nations thought that if they ignored Hitler, he would become dissuaded to do what he planned for Germany. The nations continued this for quite a while, even going as far as giving Hitler Sudetenland just to avoid a world war that would start in Europe (Doc 4). This made many Europeans ecstatic, but the Czechs were angered. The gullible British Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain, believed that appeasement was the answer to all their problems (Doc 5) and that if they let Hitler do whatever he pleased, everything would go away. Appeasement did not go as far as Chamberlain thought it would and it still
The Soviet Union’s army was trained to fight through the “General Winter”, a name to describe the Russia’s coldness. Stalin also issued an order in which every soldier in the Red Army have to fight till the end. There were “special units who were positioned behind their own lines and charged with shooting any soldier who tried to flee” (Andrews). Any soldier who tried to leave was called a traitor and will be executed if they ever returned to Russia. Hitler thought the Russians were weak based off of the attempt of the invasion of Finland.
On May 10, 1940, Nazi Germany began an immense attack against Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, and France. Defending those countries were soldiers of the British Expeditionary Force, along with the French, Belgian, and Dutch (Allied) armies. The

Hitler wanted to take over Europe and the world. He was ambitious because even after he took over Germany he still craved for power. Hitler pursues his ambitions and will stubbornly refuse neither to give it up nor to be influenced by anyone by any way. When we wanted to take over Europe he didn’t have enough power or resources to fight. So that’s was one of the reasons he lost the war.
