Back in 1984, GameStop was not initially a video game retailer. The original name was called Babbage Inc. from Dallas, Texas. With the rise of video games becoming a popular past time hobby for Americans, the company grew financially well. The name GameStop did not appear until 1996, where they expanded across the United States and even have a few stores in Buffalo, New York.
(“How Super Mario”) In September 1985, the Family Computer was released in the U.S as the Nintendo Entertainment System and Mario’s fame quickly spread. (Turi) Since then, more than two hundred games have been produced featuring the “Jumpman.” By 1990, American kids recognized Mario more than Mickey Mouse.
Disney has been around since 1923 and everyone seems to know what they do. From television programs and movies to theme parks and merchandise, Disney is known by almost everyone in the world. That is one of their strengths financially. Everyone seems to know the name and continues to flock towards Disney and that keeps their financial stability in check.
Walt Disney's approach to entertainment founded the world’s largest animated studio and successful productions which therefore transformed the entertainment industry. “Creator of the world's favorite rodent, Mickey Mouse, Walt Disney achieved prominence in movies and television and revolutionized the leisure industry with his theme park, Disneyland. Founder of the largest studio in the world devoted to animated films, he produced such classics as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Fantasia, and was equally successful with such live-action productions as Mary Poppins.” Walt Disney is one of the most iconic and influential figures in the history of animation and entertainment. During the 1930s Disney's creativity propelled his industry into success and innovation for film studios.
As the whole world knows, Nintendo is a company that makes gaming systems, most known for the Nintendo 3DS, Wii and Wii U, etc. The company was founded on September 23rd, 1889 and is still in business! All of the commercials in the Super Bowl this year were all great but, I picked two of my favorites and also 2 of the top commercials that played during the game. Other commercials that played that were pretty funny was Avocados From Mexico.
Transmedia Storytelling and Trasnational Fandoms: The Pokemon Franchise in the Turn of the 21st Century In the late 1990s, Times Magazine had the following headline stamped on its cover page: “Pokémon: For many kids it’s now an addiction—cards, video games, toys, a new movie. Is it bad for them?” That edition came out only five years after the Pokémon universe emerged out of the inventive mind of the Japanese video game designer Satoshi Tajiri. In the following years, Pokémon rapidly became a worldwide phenomenon, leading many to even consider it as “Japan’s most successful export.”
After Snow White, Disney continued to produce series of full-length animation films, live action films, and short films totaling up to more than 100. These films earned Disney unimaginable success that lead to the opening of Disneyland, Disney’s $17 million dollar theme park (Source A). The park received tremendous success, earning more than 10 times its investment cost. Disney was not able to be there for the revealing of Walt Disney World which opened in 1971. These parks along with the company itself gave employment to more than 800 people.
Why does the Nintendo become the most famous game company in the world? The Nintendo, which was founded in1889 in Kyoto Japan, was a small company selling handmade playing cards, and it started to produce a video game machine after 89 years from the establishment. The Nintendo substantially has been creating the game industry all over the world and has been producing a lot of fascinating and mega-hits games such as GAMEBOY, Nintendo DS, and Wii among other things. According to the Nintendo statistics, hardware Wii was sold 101,63 million units in total and its software was sold 914,34 million around the world (The Nintendo, 2016). This date implies that many people get carried away with Nintendo products and the Nintendo is a global game company.
The 1980’s were a very underappreciated time as this decade created immense opportunities for everyone to have better lives. This time period was shaped by the technological advancement with the invention of the computer and my favorite the Nintendo. The computer opened so many doors for businesses allowing them to be more efficient and cost-effective resulting in more revenue and stability for companies. If copyrights to Disney were public domain, a lot of different people would benefit from it. A good saying would be that everyone is getting a piece of the pie. People whom possibly can’t afford the licensing of the Disney name could get in on the game. It could possibly be better for the economy with all the different marketing and products. Instead of one company making millions, there could be several companies making thousands.

Disney has been able to expand and grow its franchises and create new franchises that are capable of become world-wide hits. Its due to its ability to change and manipulate its marketing strategies that allow Disney to appeal to its market. Another main marketing strategy that has allowed Disney to dominate all of its competition has recently been by cross platforming and taking over different companies and implementing them so that they can increase profits.
Walt Disney Company was created in 1923, where Walt Disney and his brother Roy, created “a series of short live-action/ animated films collectively called Alice Comedies.” As they continued their journey they made Mickey Mouse and friends in 1928. Continuing to grow in 1937, Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs was made, creating worldwide success for the Disney brothers and staff. Following their success, Walt Disney invested in “51 acres of land in Burbank and began designing a modern studio specifically for the purpose of making animated films.” During the 1940’s and 1950’s Disney produced “many prominent animated features” such as “Fantasia, Bambi, Cinderella, Alice In Wonderland, and Peter Pan.”
Introduction: Disney kingdom was started by a person named Walter Disney in association with his brother who called Ray O Disney in 1923. -In 1928, Disney came up with the idea of a mouse character named Mickey Mouse and starred in several Disney produced films. In 1929, The character of mickey mouse featured on a children’s pencil tablet that were producing by a man who made a deal with Walt to get the right of mickey mouse on these tablets for 300 dollars. After the success of the tablet, more offers followed!
