Impression was the first movement to revolutionize the art world in the 19th- century, during this era, Artist rejected the intrinsic value of color. They denied that color is a permanent characteristic of painting. Instead they debated that color changes constantly depending upon the effects of light, reflection and weather (AML 96). To achieve this, The Impressionists loosened their brushwork and lightened their palettes to include pure, intense colors. The movement took place when Renoir, Monet, Bazille and Sisley. Driven by the common interest of painting outdoors sceneries. When they were asked by their teachers to draw from antique casts, the group rebelled and the leader of the group was Manet for his independence (AML 99). He rejected traditional, academic style of painting and conventional themes (AML 100). He began taking everyday objects and pulling out of those objects new feelings and creations which provoke thought. With broad strokes Manet used a vivid summary technique. One of his most famous painting, “Olympia” create a great stir about the first modern nudity in the art society (AML 101).

Monet’s early stages as an artist wasn’t financially prospering. Started as a commercial artist and caricaturist. Monet had to beg his friends including the great Renoir to assist him financially (AML 102). One day, Monet was roaming the coast of Normandy capturing the sunlight in his canvas, he later mastered the art in impressionism (AML 102). Monet’s desiccation towards art was so profound, when his first wife was died, instead of mourning Monet captured his wife’s blue, grey and yellow streaks in her face. (AML 103).
