As the years went by in the past, many empires and civilizations rose and dwindled down. One empire in particular that had its ups and downs was the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire was a very strong place, with superior manpower and the ability to rebuild and grow. Unfortunately this empire declined at a certain period in time. A couple of factors that were to blame were: religion, political corruption, economic decline, and threats of invasion. What really began the crumble was in the hands of a man named Constantine. In 313 C.E., Constantine, who was the emperor at the time, made Christianity an official state religion of the empire. For the first time, Romans considered their emperor a god but the problem here was that Christianity is the belief in one god, not an emperor. According to (ushistory.org) the eastern part thrived, while the west continued to decline and eventually falling. Other factors contributed into the fall were political corruption and threats of invasion. Army amateurs dominated the empire and over time the military was turned into a mercenary army with no real loyalty to Rome. Due to the economy falling and money running low, the only armies we could afford were less reliable Germanic soldiers so the sack of Rome was not really a surprise. Many Germanic barbarian tribes came through the Roman empire, leaving behind almost nothing. One group that attacked were the Goths. They sent many threats of future invasion and eventually attacked in 247 A.D. They fought in a swampy region and completely demolished the Romans.
