The Choctaw Indians were the original people found in in the Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and Florida regions. They were forced along the Trail of Tears in the 1800 's. Most Choctaw descendants live in Oklahoma today. The Trail of Tears was a path on which many Native Americans were forced away from their original homelands, also know as the Indian Removal. Americans created an Indian Territory located in Oklahoma. The conditions on the way to the Territory were harsh, the Choctaw traveled on foot and many died.
