February 10, 1763 Treaty of Paris (French and Indian War) The end of the war has come. The seven years war started by the British declaring war against France. The French had been expanding into the Ohio Valley creating conflict amongst the countries. With the signing of the treaty France lost a lot of land.
The Treaty of Paris was a treaty signed by Britain, France, and Spain ending the bitterness between Britain and the colonists.
After the Boston Massacre, in 1773 the American revolution started. This was a war where the American colonist were to win their independence. The French decided to help the colonist defeat Great Britain. The war ended in 1783
The French and Indian War was won by the British which meant that the French had to get out of North America. One of the issues that came up was that the British, after winning the war, were in debt. It was hard for them to pay for the war so they began to tax the people in Europe and the american colonists. This angered the colonists and brought resentment from the colonists towards the British. This war altered the political, economic, and ideological relations between the British and its American colonies through a series of actions taken by each of the empires involved in this war, more specifically the British.
The American Revolution The French and Indian War impacted the American Revolution in many ways. Britain incurred a large debt from the cost of the war and the taxes that they imposed on the colonists created feelings of anger and rebellion that led to the revolution. As a result of the French and Indian war, the British were not at full strength which allowed the actions of the colonists to be more effective. Because of the outcome of the war, France was willing to help the colonists. Without the much needed help from the French the colonist may have never won the war.
In the treaty of Paris the United States had gained a vast territory in the west but this territory brought conflict to them. This territory was the land of the Native Americans and this one’s had support of the British troops to fight back the Americans. The Native Americans were led by the war chief Little Turtle and were able to win some battles. The Native Americans were defeated at the battle of fallen timbers. The American independence influenced in the French revolution and grateful for French help during the American Revolution they now saw France as a fellow republican.
The French and Indian War was important to the American Revolution because the debt from the war was the reason that Parliament started taxing the colonists. Also, the French and Indian War made Britain very weak, making the colonists’ actions work a whole lot better. Since France was not happy with the outcome of their war with Britain this was a main reasons for France’s interest in helping the now Americans throughout the Revolutionary War, which was very important to the colonies’ victory. The reason why Britain started to tax the colonists was because of the debt resulting from the French and Indian War. The first tax was the the tax on sugar, which was put on the colonists to help pay off the war debt.
With over 24,000 men dead, Americans will need to make The Treaty of Paris to get the war to end. This war is mainly between the United States and Great Britain, although both sides will soon make allies like France and the Netherlands. The war was just after the French and Indian war, so Britain was hurting after just completing a long war. The British felt that since they just fought a war protecting their colonies, the colonies should help pay for it. This upset the colonies which escalated to a war between Britain and the American colonies. Although the British had multiple advantages, the American Revolutionary war was won by the Americans due to multiple diplomatic, political, and military reasons.

The Treaty of Paris became the peaceful agreement that ended the war between Britain and the Americans. There were many major gains and losses for both sides but in the end the Patriots were victorious not only gaining recognition but as well as gaining rights to land, “…thereby more than doubling the territory of the new nation” (Shi & Tindall, 2015, p. 169). However, with their gains came ambiguous, undefined conflicts that later became disputes for the new nation. After the British defeat in The Battle of Yorktown resulting in the surrender of Cornwallis, the British accepted there was no hope in winning the war due to the influx of war debt after much time fighting the Patriots.

However, once the Treaty of Paris was signed in 1763, problems soon erupted that began to change the views and actions of some colonists, and the issues of taxes and representation played a large role. As previously stated, the French and Indian war left a large debt on Great Britain, and they needed a way to pay for it. Given that many Americans paid much lower taxes than the British (An average American colonist paid one shilling in taxes, to a Briton’s 24) the crown felt it would be necessary for the Americans to pay for the cost of defending the newly acquired territory. The French and Indian War ended in 1763, resulting in a British victory and British control of all previously French land, besides Louisiana, in North America. However, the British government was in massive debt following the war, and could not pay off the debt without procuring more funds from their citizens. This debt and future misunderstanding of specifically the colonists of the thirteen colonies is what led to the aforementioned colonists to desire independence. The British controlled much more besides the thirteen colonies.
