The Vikings’ occupations helped their society to prolong itself and to thrive. In modern times, Vikings, who are also known as Norsemen, are most commonly remembered as ruthless raiders and warriors. The reason they took up the unlawful occupation of raiding was that the soil was frozen solid and infertile. They raided for survival. Because they were in search of goods, the Vikings attacked Europe from 700s to 1100. Their assaults were mostly staged by small groups who raided the defenseless people swiftly enough so that they had no time to arm themselves.
