Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th president of the United States. He is remembered as a well-accomplished President and an extremely important historical figure. After President McKinley was assassinated in 1901, Roosevelt took office as the youngest President of the United States to date. He successfully led the United States toward progressive reforms and a strong foreign policy. One of Roosevelt’s notable policies was that he would take whatever action necessary for the good of the public unless specifically forbidden by law or the Constitution. During his presidency, Roosevelt revolutionized foreign affairs, helped Congress strengthen the US Navy, and aimed to create peace and balance power throughout the world. He believed that government should serve as the agent of reform for the people. Most significantly, Roosevelt aimed to protect and maintain the environment of the United States.
